OUR VISION
The vision for Sunflower Ministries was spoken into the hearts of 3 women living on the mission field in Arua, Uganda. Their interactions with children they met with disabilities and their families sparked a passion to see these children’s lives transformed physically, emotionally & spiritually. From here the vision for “Sunflower Ministries” was born - where the sunflower represents God’s desire for all to “Follow The SON”
Through employing local staff and training volunteers, we hope to connect with each and every child with a disability in Arua. By listening to their stories, our aim is to journey alongside the children and their families on a path of healing and holistic care. We help facilitate breaking down barriers toward disability through partnership with local schools, health centres and government. We seek to find sustainable and community supported programs for each child to reach his or her full potential. Will you prayerfully consider partnering with Sunflower Ministries to help us minister to the physical, emotional & spiritual needs of these children and their families? Our greatest hope is that lives will be transformed and that God will receive ALL the glory for what he is going to do in and through these children.
OUR GOALS
- Dismantle cultural stigma towards individuals with disabilities
- See children and their families understand who they are in Jesus and walking in the freedom He offers to them
- Provide services for the physical, spiritual, emotional and social needs of each child
- Collaborate with existing disability ministries in Arua to provide children with access to professional occupational, physical, and speech therapies

- Connect families of special needs children together to support each other on their journey
- Engage the local church to support and minister to individuals in the special needs community
SPONSOR A SUNFLOWER CHILD THROUGH PRAYER
"I remember like it was yesterday when I was talking to Bree Monahan, the founder and director of Sunflower Ministries, about the need for intercessory prayer for the families they serve. Many of these families are ostracized, ridiculed, outcast, and even told that their children have been born different because of their sin. These emotions can be crushing. Knowing the heart that Sunflower Ministries has to indigenously support these families puts a real emphasis on the need for prayer. At Promise Child, we realize that not everyone can financially support children. We invite you to consider downloading a Sunflower Prayer Card. After printing out these cards, your family can intercede on behalf of the children and caretakers that Sunflower serves. The Bible says, "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit." Ps 34:18.
Your prayers can help lift the brokenhearted and open the door for the good news of the gospel to be received. The only hope these children have is Christ Himself. I'm reminded what the great missionary, Hudson Taylor, said about prayer. "It is possible to move men, through God, by prayer alone." Please consider helping us move these children to God through intercessory prayer by downloading a Sunflower Prayer Card today." - Pastor Brent Kaser
