Since we began to sponsor the children of the Taus and Taposa Tribes, we have experienced many challenges, but we have seen much fruit. Since starting the Promise Child dormitory, we are seeing transformed lives in the children we are working with. The children of the Taus Tribe could not even take care of their own basic needs. They were formally so primitive, they were unaware of basic hygeine and other basic life skills. Now that they are living in the dormitory, they are learning all these skills as well as caring for others. With full time caretakers, they are excelling in their studies. The hot meal program has the children looking healthier than ever, and we are delighted with their progress. We are seeing positive cultural changes as well. Some of the parents of the Promise Children are seeing the value of education now and instead of forcing their daughters to marry at an early age, they are allowing them to finish school.
In 2010, we entered into a partnership with Ends of the Earth Ministries and together established a medical clinic. Now the Taus children are receiving medical attention whenever they are sick. This clinic is not only touching the lives of the Taus children, but also the larger Taposa tribes in the area. We are seeing our medical facility literally saving the lives of people who would never be able to see a doctor.
Most importantly, the Taus & Taposa children are being discipled weekly and are growing in their knowledge of Christ.
